There is a totally unspoilt and undiscovered region of Italy where the landscapes are breathtaking, nature flourishes and history and tradition are part of the daily mosaic of life.
This lush, mountainous region is located on the eastern side of central Italy, between the Apennines and the Adriatic coast.
Although it is only a couple of hours drive from Rome, Abruzzo remains very tranquil and unspoilt, and is rarely visited by tourists.
Abruzzo lies between the Apennine mountains and the Adriatic Sea, and is within easy reach of Rome.

The area is wonderfully scenic with thick forests, deep gorges, lakes, snow-capped mountain peaks, castles and picturesque medieval hilltop villages.
Abruzzo has the highest peak of the Apennines, the Corno Grande at 2912 metres, and also Europe's southernmost glacier, the Calderone.
A third of the area of Abruzzo is protected, and the province has three of Italy's most important National Parks: the National Park of Abruzzo, the National Park of Gran Sasso-Laga and the National Park of Maiella. Rare animals, birds, butterflies and plants flourish in these protected areas.
There are many waterfalls in the Abruzzo mountains.
When you go walking you may find wild orchids.
Adventurers can hike in the mountains. Nature lovers can marvel at the variety of wildlife and flowers in the many national parks and nature reserves, or ramble over the hills and through the beech forests.
Artists and photographers can capture the stunning beauty of the scenery. Or if you just want to relax in a beautiful and inspirational environment, you can soak up the sun and recharge your spiritual and physical batteries.
