Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, Atri.
The beautiful and historic town of Atri is famed for its Calanchi Nature Reserve, but also has many lovely old buildings and a belvedere with modern sculptures overlooking the countryside and the sea.

One of the main attractions is the magnificent cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which originates from the 12th century.

There is a distant view of Atri and its 'calanchi' from the front balcony of Villa Mandorla.
The 'calanchi' are erosion furrows that form a fascinating landscape that some may associate with a moonscape. The Riserva Naturale Regionale dei Calanchi di Atri has a visitor centre and a series of marked walking trails.
