The pretty little town of Castelli is world renowned for its majolica ceramics. There are many shops selling both modern and traditional pieces and a museum of ceramics located in an old Franciscan convent.
The collection includes a huge range of artworks dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. The Francesco Antonio Grue State Art Institute is home to the International Collection of Contemporary Ceramic Art. The lovely Church of San Donato, near the convent, has a superb majolica ceiling.
