The town is between Teramo and Ascoli Piceno and is accessible through an arched gateway. The Fortress can be combined with a walk along the Salinello Gorge
and a visit to the Grotte San Michele for a very interesting day trip from Villa Mandorla.
|
The town is a maze of fascinating alleyways and is also rich in other architectural treasures. These include several medieval and
Renaissance buildings in the main streets, Via Mazzini and Via Roma, and elegant palaces such as that of the Count of Termes, dating back to XIV century.
The church of San Francesco with its XIV century rose window and wooden choir stall and the church San Lorenzo are both worth visiting.
The Franciscan monastery of “Madonna dei Lumi” and the beautiful Montesanto Abbey are located nearby.
